Silver, coral 13.5 x 8.5 x 6 cm A personal snuff container carried on a cord by its owner, decorated in silver repoussé with grazing animals among cloud-scroll motifs and a central coral cabochon. The stopper is fitted with a dosing rod used to draw and dispense the tobacco. Coral cabochons and fine repoussé work of this quality were markers of status among owners who could afford them.
